Lionel

with brush in hand
he sits before me,

studying me

the canvas is touched by his brush
colors flow outward upon its surface

cerulean, burnt umber, ochre, cadmium red

in his eyes I see ancient reflections
of the masters
and his brush records forever what he sees

but not what he wants

his frustration is shown
by the creases in his brow

and he sighs

brush and knife become tools of destruction
and I leave the studio

I will return another day.

This was inspired by a painting titled “Lionel” by the artist David A. Leffel.

About Jayne d'Arcy

I am now, as of 2010, 48 years old. I do a bit of digital artwork, and photography. I also write Harry Potter fan fiction that is Severus Snape-centric. No slash. On this blog I have a library of my own original work, which I hope you'll be inclined to visit and comment on.

i beleive that i am the subject of a painting entittled wine velvet. I am trying to find the artist to find out how i became the subject of the painting.
I did sit for an artist many many years ago in Los Angeles, as a nude model.in the early 80s.
The painting is undoubtably me, there is no question. The painting appeared in a book by Linda cataura, and the painting was listed as in Obrians Art Emporium in Scottsdale Arizona. Is a beautiful painting, but i am dying to solve this mystery. I had a different name back then. I am at least a hundred pounds heavier now, but there is no mistaking that the painting is myself. Can u help me, possibly?
I would like to find out more, this is a real mystery
