The Carving
The tree was nearly
Three centuries old,
And carved deep
Into its oaken side
Was an initialized heart
Pierced by an arrow.
Another century of growth
Would have hidden
The symbol of devotion.
The lovers
Long since become dust,
And the tree
Now has been felled.
The treasure of their love
Was saved by those
Touched by the symbol.

About Jayne d'Arcy
I am now, as of 2010, 48 years old. I do a bit of digital artwork, and photography. I also write Harry Potter fan fiction that is Severus Snape-centric. No slash.
On this blog I have a library of my own original work, which I hope you'll be inclined to visit and comment on.
