With no place else to go, Anthony Swofford enlisted in the Marines. Regretting this mistake from day one, when he hits Iraq, his only goal is to do his job and get out alive.
Jarhead is based on the best selling novel by Anthony Swofford and tells about his time in the Marines and his time in Desert Shield and Desert Storm.
I honestly did not know that this was based on true life experience of the author, and that makes the movie even better than I thought it was. It’s a powerful, yet unjudgemental movie. Swofford was there. He had a job to do and he did the best that he could until it was his time to get out.
This is a fine example of a soldier’s life directly from his point of view. Not from the point of view of someone who has never been there, not from the point of view of the media or anyone else.
This film is worth every penny of its price.
