A Writer’s Book of Days by Judy Reeves

10 Jan

This was a gift I received from my husband for Christmas. It’s a wonderful book and just the thing for the writer that needs to practice. The author, Judy Reeves, wrote this book for pen and paper journal writers. She advocates the “sensuality” of writing the old-fashioned way, before typewriters and computers. Since I’ve gone back to doing some journaling in my old blank books, this is just what I needed.

The book is set up so that there are writing prompts for each day of the year. In addition to the prompts, there are inspirational essays, writing tips, and encouragement. So far I have found that this book is geared more toward fictional writing, at least, that’s what the writing prompts are getting out of me.

Although I am using this book for writing in my journal, I have decided that it might be fun to provide my visitors with a daily writing prompt. Once in awhile I will post one from the book, but otherwise, I shall make up my own prompts. You’re welcome to use them to inspire you in any way possible, writing, artwork, or photography. If you do create something from a writing prompt found here, just drop me a comment and let me know what you did.
