Monster House & Possessive Pirates

12 Aug

We saw Monster House today. A very good movie with a very good story. The spouse and I are both fans of Steve Buscemi and so when we found out he’d done a voice over for this cartoon, we had to go. It’s got some decent scares and if you enjoy the advances made in digital cartoons, you should like it.

On the other hand, I’m doing something absolutely terrible. I’ve written two pieces of pirate fan fiction. I don’t read fan fiction. And, I haven’t written any since an old Star Trek roleplay site I ran faded to black. I’m a nut for pirates, and of course the recent Pirates of the Caribbean movies have had me Hook’d, so to speak.

As fan fiction goes, I think they’re not too bad, but they aren’t all that great, either. One is based around the cursed Captain Barbossa of the first Pirates movie, the other is twisted around my all time favorite pirate, Captain James Hook. That one, as it’s a bit tongue in cheek, I’ll share with you.

I liked that little story. Left a comment for it (but it needs moderator approval first).
