My old computer harddrive is dying. We have it wrapped in a nice, cozy nest of plastic coated wires and a fan is keeping it cool. Visits are being limited, though, as the harddrive is having a great deal of trouble revolving. We ask that everyone understands this, but we will be certain that the harddrive knows you came by and are thinking of it.
The harddrive’s PC Doctor gave us the news today that it would only have a few hours. So, for those last few hours, we made sure that all data was saved and archived in a safe place. In a few minutes we will be turning the computer off for the last time.
We will miss the harddrive. It served a long life of nearly six years and three re-installations of Windows XP and one move from Redding, CA to Spokane, WA.
As for the harddrive’s longtime companions, the computer tower and the monitor, they have expressed a wish to sit quietly for a month or so gathering dust while they discuss their future. It is more than likely that they will be sold. We’re not really holding out hope for a new harddrive. At least, not for now.
Thank you for coming by. Please leave flowers and wreaths with Professor Snape.
Requiesat in pace, little harddrive.
*tries to smother inappropriate snickers and accidentally trips over the cord*
Whoops!
Awww, poor harddrive. He must be going to cyber-heaven with my mother board and processor. We must burn floppies in sacrifice on the altar of the cyber-gods to speed his way. *g*
ours usually die before it cn be backed up, or because mr stupid does something stupid. I am used to it by now. we have also done the set a fan on the computer trick before! our problem is that mr stupid never buys a pc capable of handling his gaming.
so long hard drive! have a good reincarnation.
Oh dear…I am sorry for your loss.
These are always sad occasions.
Let us pray.
