Creative Writer’s Block?

17 Oct

As far as writing stories go, my mind has been a blank, lately. Part of the problem has been due to dealing with the vagaries of my computers. The other part is due to a shifting of my mood as the weather changes. I don’t get the blues in the winter, but that period of time that sits between autumn and winter is a dreary time. I don’t sleep well, when I do get to sleep, and I feel like doing very little around the house.

I’m doing fine with the roleplaying at Bardic Web; it only takes a short bit of imagination to do my posts. I am having some fun with my Recycled News site, but my own text is rather stilted and forced. After reading and researching my subject of the day, the last thing I want to do is write anything about it. I’m hoping that will change soon.

3rd Eye Writers seems to be at a standstill. Hardly anyone has logged in and no one is really commenting. At least there are two entries for the Halloween contest. None are from members, though. It doesn’t make me want to run another contest anytime soon. As with my original intent with 3rd Eye Writers, it has until the end of the year. If things don’t pick up with more activity from the members, then I’ll use the web space for something else. It’s possible I’ll run a scroll next year at Bardic Web. We’ll see.

Whatever I do, I want to keep my mind and my imagination active, even during these times when it’s like pulling teeth just to write a witty line.

Jayne … hope you can break through that block.
I wanted to mention your new blog ‘Recycled News’ is wonderful. I couldn’t find a place to comment there, so I dropped in here.

I get the same autumn blahs, although I’m not really depressed as I love the fall season, colors and its holidays. My father was the same way and he always snapped around come November.

Perhaps what I am lacking in is inspiration. Sometimes the news kicks in some creative thought but the news lately has been dreary and too political. (I steer from that when possible.) Reading, TV and other outlets sometimes kick me in to geer but not much good is on TV or my nightstand at the moment.

My health is also a factor and with autumn allergies, hip pain and feling run down all of the time, well you know. Maybe I should dig up some old archived work? I’ve been also feeling the need to draw/paint or do charcoal or pastel work.
