Craig Ferguson Won’t Make Fun

12 Mar

Back in late February I was watching the Late, Late Show with Craig Ferguson and found myself stopping everything in order to listen to his monologue. I was impressed, to say the least. Ferguson spent a little over twelve minutes talking about why he had made the decision to not poke fun at Britney Spears and other such celebrities in similar circumstances. Citing his own past alcoholic abuse and recovery, he states, over and over that this is his decision; he’s doing this for himself so that he “can wake up and look at himself in the mirror in the morning”.

A few days later he was interviewed by Giuliana dePandi who didn’t seem to quite “get it”:

Kudos to Craig Ferguson for staring down ratings and an audience with a Roman coliseum mind-set in order to speak his mind. Very few people in the media have such class.

Irish so hadn’t come across Ferguson before but he seems a very welcome and surprising kind of person to make mainstream television.

    He sounds very cool!

Just think of all the other news we could concentrate on if the media weren’t consumed 90% of the time over who the father of Anna Nicole Smith’s baby is.

I agree 100%. Not just because of any or if she has abuse problems, etc. But just because she’s merely human and we shouldn’t celebrate anyones misfortune by having a circus around it.

Ahhh, what would the world do if we ignored our celebrities for an entire month. (Besides reporting on upcoming events, movies, deaths and births only)
