This is not some pay per post thingy. This is an unpaid, genuine endorsement of a great homemade, handmade product.
Althaea Soaps & Herbals – this links to her website store where you can find a wide range of soaps, perfumes, lotions and scrubs.
I’m not much for endorsing anything one might buy, but I really have to say I love her products. For my birthday, my husband bought a 2 pound loaf of her handmade soap in a Bay Rum scent and the Chocolate Cake Sugar Scrub.
I’ve never used a sugar scrub, and to be honest it still feels silly rubbing sugar on your skin. I sure do smell lovely afterwards! When we received the package, you could smell the fragrance through the box. My dogs went nuts over the chocolate cake sugar scrub. I couldn’t blame them. Here’s the description of the scent:
Chocolate Cake – hints of vanilla, butter, sugar, cake spice and cream (scents only, this is vegan-safe), but these are only a backdrop to the rich, dark Droste cocoa that stars in this bar. Smells just like a slice of chocolate cake, or a fresh brownie still warm from the oven.
It really does smell wonderful.
The soap, though. Wow. It is absolutely the best handmade soap I’ve ever tried. I can only vouch for the Bay Rum, but it’s fantastic for sensitive skin. The fragrance is not so terribly heavy that it knocks out scent sensitive noses. My husband, who is not too hot on using such “frou-frou” soaps, really likes how well it cleans his hands after yardwork.
So, if you enjoy handmade bath products, then go visit this store. Melanie Teegarden, the owner and creator is a really nice person to deal with, too.
Her website, in addition to an expanded product line, also contains some skincare hints that aren’t difficult to follow and don’t cost an arm and a leg. Melanie also explains her soapmaking process which also includes a photo essay of one of her batch-making sessions.
The prices are reasonable as is the shipping and for the soap and the sugar scrub, I can definitely say they’re the best.
Done, Melanie! :) Thanks for dropping by.
Hi, thanks so much for the review! It’s folks like you, giving your honest opinions and telling others, that have made it possible for me to keep doing this.
One thing, though: instead of the eBay store, if you could point folks to my official site, http://www.althaea.biz, that would be great. I was losing my shirt trying to sell on eBay, so I’m pretty much phasing it out except for occasionally getting rid of overstock.
Best Regards,
Melanie Teegarden
