Cold, Hot, Back & Forth

30 Jun

I wish the weather would make up its mind. Last night it hit 40 again and the house was freezing. I woke up with most of my joints in pain. Aleve takes a bit of the edge off, but I still hurt. I am no fan of warm weather, but it does help to keep the ache from the joints.

I’ve been debating doing my own WordPress theme from nearly scratch. Generally when I design a theme, I go looking at the theme viewer for a layout to modify. The problem with this, that I’ve noticed lately, is that there are a lot of theme creators doing the same thing. This means that they’re building and making changes based on someone else’s coding. When that happens, especially in the stylesheet, you have references to things that are no longer happening in the present theme. Most designers that modify or build from someone else’s theme just don’t bother to clean up the CSS and these stylesheets are monstrous. It gets even worse when someone modifies a theme compatible with a much earlier version of WordPress and just adds in corrected code, but doesn’t clean up the old, abandoned code.

There is a beautiful theme right now with the appropriate name of “Sandbox” that I may dive into. The Sandbox was specifically designed for theme designers to have a clean place to start. It’s a bit more robust than what I am used to dealing with, but it might be good to stare at the code and put the pieces together for awhile.

Back to the home front: We can’t keep our old Zenith on. We turn it on, the picture bends inward, and then it snaps off. Time for a new TV! Woohoo!

Send some of that cold weather here. We’ve had rain almost 90% of the days in June. It’s crazy.

Anyway.. sorry I’ve been gone so long. :-)
