I want to write something fascinating, pithy, witty, but I’m completely bored with my own thoughts. They aren’t thinking very much.
It was a good weekend with the in-laws, with a few strange bits thrown in, and it was very tiring. Guests, no matter who they are, are always exhausting. My BIL gave us the news that he is getting married in September so most of the visit was to make sure that Richard and I were suitably outfitted for the occasion. Neither of us are fashion plates and the to-do is going to be held at a very fancy hotel. Richard has a beautiful blazer and slacks and shoes; and man does he look good in it. I have a 100% silk, midnight blue, beaded dress. I’m sure in September there will be photographs so you’ll get to see what we look like.
My MIL really wants me to do up my hair with ribbons… uhm, no. And, makeup, too. No. I will wash my hair, pin up a portion of it in my usual way and I will NOT wear makeup. I don’t care if it looks like I don’t have eyebrows and miles of forehead and undefined lips – I look freaky in makeup.
Tomorrow will be a busy day at our house. We bought an HD TV and it’s all getting installed and such. We also made the leap to switch from DISH Network to DirectTV. Of course, after plunking down a hefty amount for the leased equipment, we discovered that the DISH Network equipment we have we own. Great. *sigh* Anyway, we should save about $20 a month with the switch. And, we’re doing away with Showtime and Starz.
I really liked Showtime, Cinemax, HBO when they were just ONE channel. This “pack of channels” is ridiculous. Showtime and HBO do have some interesting and original series, but we’re just not watching them. So, it’s time for them to go. If we want a movie, we’ll stick it on the Netflix list.
