Lavendar asked, “Umm, what’s Memorex?” So here I go showing off my age, again. The slogan comes from a series of commercials made for the Memorex tape cassette that starred singer Ella Fitzgerald. The slogan was “Is it live (or real) or Memorex?”
The product was supposed to be the best quality tape cassette out there, but it wasn’t. However, the commercials were really great.
Memorex hasn’t vanished to the ether, though. A quick Google showed that the company is still alive and well and have not, yet, stopped using their famous slogan.

I remember Memorex. I use to buy them all the time to tape songs off the radio so I wouldn’t have to buy the tape.
