Lazy Day

29 Aug

The heat is back and that’s knocking us all into side naps; dogs on the floor, cat on my mouse (up til a little while ago) and me here at the keyboard.

I’ve been doing some catch up with blogs via my Google Reader – yikes! Folks have been busy. I have to tell you about some new favorites, though, and I check these every morning while I’m having my breakfast.

I met theme through Blog Explosion’s forum. Since BE’s big sale to new owners several months back, a few things have been getting updated and blog approvals have gotten behind. We’re resourceful, though, and decided to open up a couple of interesting threads geared toward increasing our traffic. One of the threads is set up so folks can come in and share their latest post.

So, without further ado, here are some blogs I think you should blogroll:

Madvertising: As the logo says, “Tales from a very strange industry”. This is not an advertising blog, although I think students of advertising ought to read this blog in order to learn what to do right and what not to do. Mad himself is a creative director, so he knows what he’s talking about as he writes. He’s funny, direct, and if you don’t watch out, you might actually learn a thing or two.

If You Read This, I’ll Buy You Some Cake: This is Romi. She has a mad sweet tooth. She’s also got the wickedest sense of humor I’ve come across in awhile. As you read her posts, you just might find you and she have something in common. Whether it’s frosting leftovers from cake at the office or crappy Tuesdays.

Textual Relations: You are now entering the inner sanctum of Mr. President. Throw all your preconceived notions out the window and prepare for something a little different, slightly controversial, and possibly sarcastic. Mr. President has no worries about carrying the red flag in front of the Bull Run. Whether you’re looking for something to think about, or to debate, you’re sure to find it here.

Scribbles: A little bit of this, a dash of that, and a smattering of POW. Pick of the Week, that is. This is the kind of everyday, personal type of blog I really enjoy. Little glimpses into someone else’s world with no central theme, yet it all just works. If you’re not a member of Shoutpost, there is a chatbox you can give a yell into, so make use of it.

Political Friends: I rarely read political blogs. They can put me to sleep faster than a dull book can. However, Andy’s posts have consistently kept me awake and reading. Whether or not you agree with his point of view, his posts are still interesting and will make you think about them long after you’ve gone on to something else. If politics IS your bag, then this is just the blog to sink your teeth into.

I’ll have to showcase some more blogs, soon, but these should whet your appetite for now.

WOW, thanks for the kind words. The BE thread has also exposed me to blogs I wouldn’t have found otherwise and it has been a fun ride.

Thank you SO much for the blog-shout out here! :-)

I’m flattered that you enjoy my sense of humor; the more people that are exposed to my cake-obsessed cult, the more potential recruits I’ll have, heehee ;-)
