The first snow arrived late last night. I took a few quick photos, but this is the only one that was decent. Snow has a habit of arriving around Thanksgiving so it was right on schedule. Most of it had melted by the afternoon except for snow that had hidden away in shadows.
Tonight it’s pretty icy outside. Not so great when you walk since most homeowners don’t take the trouble to make sure their sidewalks are safe. The curse of those that drive; they never seem to take into consideration that there are still people out there that walk everywhere.
I have FINALLY gotten a Thanksgiving without a turkey!! I am so jazzed. You look puzzled. Well, I’m not that fond of turkey. I married a man who is a turkey fiend. We have turkey at least twice a month. When I was growing up turkey was expensive and we tended to have it about two or three times a year. That was two or three times too many for me.
So, my fondest wish has always been to have a Thanksgiving where I’m not eating turkey. Hubby shopped early this morning and brought home a two-person size, spiral cut, maple cured ham. Oooooooo. We’ll have baked potatoes and chocolate chip cookies.
Usually we do dessert a bit fancier, but with sweets being scarce around the house, that’s what we both wanted. Christmas will be a different matter. Stepford Mom gave me an interesting idea for dessert, ingredients were chocolate pudding, cream cheese, flakey pie crust, toffee bar sprinkles.
Oh. I have NOT even started my Christmas cards.

F**king Xmas cards. I have to do them for work. It means sending out close to 500 from out different departments and babysitting the people who put together the lists because apparently writing a list of names and addresses is just TOO hard.

Growing up, I actually had Shrimp one year for Thanksgiving. I loved it!
Christmas cards? What are those? Oh, yea, those – we should have already made inroads into those – especially the ones going overseas, but there you go.
