Mount Dragon by Preston

Mount Dragon was published after Relic and was a story separate from the other books that Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child have written. The story delves into the world of genetics and the potentially catastrophic and moralistic consequences.  Mount Dragon is a research facility home to THE deadliest strain of super flu in the world: X-Flu.

Genetics is not a very interesting subject for me.  This was a tough book to get through, but the characters, something that Preston and Child are superb at, were top notch. It is the characters that keep the reader engaged in the story and this is important because the first half of the book is pretty dry with all the genetics, molecular this and that talk. I admit, there were areas that I skipped past just so I could get back to what the characters were doing.

True to form, the last third of the book is tension filled as the heroes clash with the villians.

Not their worst, but also not their best, unless you have an interest in the field of genetics.
