First, the fire: it seems to be getting tamed. Those that were evacuated have either returned home or are staying at temporary places in town. The hotel where hubby works put aside a couple of rooms for evacuees. I thought that was nice. So, all is pretty well.
Today we went to see Hellboy & The Golden Army. It was something I dragged Richard to because I love Hellboy and I didn’t expect him to like, but to tolerate it. He did like it, better than the first one, so that was good.
I enjoyed the movie myself, too. There were some great scenes to laugh at (minor spoiler: Abe & HB singing Barry Manilow had me in tears!) and there was the usual, spectacular, monster asspidistra kicking. I still feel that del Toro created the film much to close to Pan’s Labyrinth. Many of the scenes, and the monster-ish types looked like they were leftovers or rejects from that movie. Not that that was a bad thing; it made the movie rather stylish.
A brilliant, fun movie and I highly recommend it. So, go!

Hellboy is dependably fun; for sure that director has an amazing imagination, reminded me a lot of his work in Pan’s Labyrinth

I think it’s the tail on HellBoy that I like… it puts me in touch with some childhood impression. Sort of a free association with Cowardly Lion… eh?
I haven’t actually seen Hellboy but I did see the ad on the SciFi Channel with the Ghost Hunters. The Kid and I both thought it was hilarious.
I’m glad to hear the fires are becoming controlled. Watched CBS News and though they didn’t really talk about the fires, they talked about AllState Insurance and how many will probably find they are under insured. Horrible.
