It’s been awhile, but here’s a Sunday Stealing I could sink my teeth into. Come and draw some blood and join me. What are your answers?
1. How did you come up with your blog title OR what does it mean?
My latest blog title, A Light in the Dark, is the one I’ve had the longest. It is a reflection of my general mental state. No matter how dark it becomes, there’s always a light. My blog, at times, has been a part of that light.
2. What are your general goals for blogging?
I want folks to come and read my original stories. My posts, when I write them, give my readers a glimpse into a part of who I am.
3. Do people “in your real life” know that you blog and do they comment on your blog OR is it largely anonymous?
My brothers and my mother and my husband know I blog. My husband doesn’t read blogs, and that includes mine. I know my brother Jack peeks in now and then and sometimes he comments. I always read his blog. I don’t know if Jim reads my blog; probably not. He’s never commented. My mother doesn’t have internet access.
How often do you post (x per week)?
Whenever the mood strikes me.
4. How often do you read other blogs (x per week)?
A few a day.
5. How do you select blogs to read (do you prefer blogs that focus on certain topics or do you choose by tone or…?)
I go by something I’m interested in at the moment.
6. Do you have any plans to copy your blog entries in any other format, 0r do you think that one day, you’ll just delete it all?
There’s no one to keep it for so I doubt I’ll ever preserve it.
7. What are the things you like best about blogging?
I like having a part of myself I can share with other people.
8. What are the things you don’t like about blogging?
The pressure to blog. I’ve done it. Even did it for charity once. It really is no fun.
9. How do you handle comments?
Use a spam filter and if the person doesn’t have a blog, they’re deleted.
10. Do you have any burning thoughts to share on blog etiquette?
Reply to your comments. Whether it’s via email or on the post itself, reply. It’s just common courtesy.
11. Any desired blog features?
I’ve got WordPress. It has everything I need.
12. Have you suffered blog addiction?
Yes. I got over it.

Interesting read. I agree with you on most of it. Blogging some days feels like a unwelcome obligation, other days a welcome one. I tend to be secretive about my blog. I only have a couple of family members that ever read it, but that is too many. I prefer the freedom to rant my truth with wild abandon even if what I say is critical, self-righteous, or a bit crazy, and it is much easier to do when a blog is completely anonymous.
I think it is important to acknowledge comments. Otherwise how are visitors to know they are welcome or if they should stealthily take a peek and quietly depart.
I used to reply to all my comments but the majority of people never returned to read what I had said. Even those that asked a question. I guess I’ll have to start replying again. Just in case. :)
I really never thought of it that way, but there actually IS a bit of pressure in blogging, isn’t there! Good point.
My S. S. is posted now, if you’d like to stop by and read it, I’d love to have your company. Happy and peaceful Sunday to you.
Some good answers. I understand what you mean about the pressure to blog. Also agree with you about answering comments (although I’m way behind with that myself, but appreciate others who do it).
Really, you think we should reply to our comments? I never go back to see what someone has said about my comment. I will give this some thought! Good answers by the way
