Finally I was able to pick up my new glasses. I was going to take a WebCam snapshot, but the image is turning my face purple. I don’t need to be looking like Barney the Dinosaur. They’re quite nice and the prescription was updated, marginally. Still, it’s something I have to get used to and new glasses always lead to a low-level migraine. Also, they never adjust my glasses correctly. I’ll probably have to visit two or three more times until they’re right.
They’re very light. The frame is just the upper edge with the bottom of the lenses exposed. When I was a kid, I had rather thick lenses and no matter what type of frame I used, they constantly slid down my nose. Lenses are thinner, these days, so the glasses aren’t sliding too badly. Once they’re adjusted right, then the slippage ought to be minimal.
Here’s a bit of trivia:
The ancestry of eyeglasses dates back to 4 BC, when people utilized water to magnify items for clearer viewing. The modern framed eyeglasses were known to exist as early as 1285, then referred to as “spectacles”. By definition, eyeglasses are devices used to correct impaired vision, be it farsighted or nearsighted. Today, eyeglasses are prescribed lenses fitted on a frame to that rest on the bridge of your nose.

Glad you finally got your glasses. And hope they’re just right from the start.
