I went to the doctor today and he was able to tell me that I’m teetering on the edge. Due to genetics, I may not completely escape Type 2, but I am one of the fortunate ones that will not have to ever go on insulin, if I take a few steps now to get into better shape. My doctor would like to see a 30 pound weight loss by the end of this year. So would I. Of course, that’s easy to be told, but it is going to be so hard. I explained to the doctor my two biggest problems with getting exercise – the first being that I just cannot go to any gym or pool by myself. The second being that unless I swim, most exercises I’ve tried have all caused my Fibromyalgia to flare up. This doctor (another new one) seems to understand. He just asked me to walk my dogs daily. I can do that.
The changes to my diet are fairly simple, as well. The doctor also said I don’t have to give up the fancy desserts I get at Olive Garden as long as I behave during the week. The week means that breakfast has to have more protein, less sugar. I haven’t felt dizziness after eating my breakfast cereal, but I have been feeling nauseous lately. That sort of puzzled him, but since I cited other times I’d had sweets in the morning and felt sick afterwards, he just quipped, “then it ought to be easy to avoid those.” Yeah.
Although I took the news well, the day itself was tiring and I got rained on everytime I was outside. Snow is fine, rain is not.
So it goes…
