Fashion Show, or Don’t Ever Ask Again

29 Nov

Leave comments, people! Why is it, when you want to ask me to do something, do you email me instead? Philistines!

Rant, more or less over.

Because I was asked, and rather politely, I have taken photos of myself in some of my favorite dresses. I am smiling in all the photos (even those where my teeth don’t show). I have a malformed mouth that was corrected by 12+ years of orthodontia, so at least I can smile that much! You also get to see the white in my hair (it’s around my face), and how pale my skin is. Unfortunately, it tends to go red under a flash bulb, so, eh! What can I do? Here they are:

BlackDress_sm

This dress goes to my ankles. I wear the hat (which is old-fashioned cleric shaped) during Spring and Summer to shade my face. I burn. I am wearing my rosary of wooden, black-laquered beads from Poland. Only that one nitwit relative of mine thinks I’m being disrespectful. I’ve gotten some very nice compliments on it. My husband feels like he’s married to a nun when I wear this.

BrownDress_SplitSleeves_sm

My monk dress. I didn’t name it that, my mother did. I like the split sleeves. The necklace, of fan lace agate, was made by me. When I could see.

ManyColors_sm

My “coat of many colors” dress. I don’t wear it too often. I wear it when I’m in a colorful mood. The necklace I am wearing is my little Time-Turner.

PurpleDress_sm

This is one of my favorite winter dresses, my purple dress. This is the one I was wearing when a sweet little boy came up and asked me why my husband, Prof. Snape, was so mean to Harry.

Red_Blouse_sm

My red blouse with the really wide (or bell) sleeves. I also have a black blouse like this and might even get a dress that is full length with these sleeves. I do love the sleeves, but it’s annoying to thread them through the straps of my backpack.

So, there you have it. A fashion show. If you want to make fun of me, then get bent and leave. It was tough enough taking these photos.

The colorful dress came from Lotus in the Moonlight and the other dresses came from Holy Clothing.

By the way, I’m not really mean and nasty. I love all of you.

First Rain of Autumn

14 Oct

Claudius - no red-eyeIt’s raining today. Although it’s been feeling like we completely missed Fall and dropped right into Winter, this rain is an autumn rain. It’s chilly outside, but the house is nice and warm. As soon as I left my bed, Claudius shot like a dart to the warm spot and snuggled himself down for the day. Unless something interesting happens in the kitchen.

Panda and Marcus have just finished their breakfast and both are fast asleep; one of the dog bed, one on the couch.

MarcusMarcus, our eldest dog, is really showing his age these last few months. It’s mostly his back legs. They get stiff and it’s harder for him to get up as smoothly as he used to. He’s more wary about the steps in the house, and the staircase down to the backyard. Of course, if there are evil birds invading our yard, all bets are off and he’s screaming down those stairs like a youngster.

One of Marcus’ favorite spots to sleep is our leather couch. He does pretty well in the morning in getting himself up there, but in the evening he can only get his front end up. If no one sees him, he squeak/whistles (an ear piercing, very soft sound) until either Richard or I gather up the back end (of course, the heaviest part!) and lift him. He’s thankful, though, and always licks the hand, or the face if its too close!

On another topic, I am beginning to awaken from my summer hibernation. No matter that the cold weather is coming early, mentally I’m stretching and cannot wait until the first snow comes down.

What I do find interesting is that all this socialising I’ve been doing (Facebook, Twitter, now LiveJournal) was begun several weeks ago. It just means my meds are doing the job. Without meds, I wouldn’t have my first bout of cold induced euphoria until the temperature really dropped.

Tis good, and so far today I actually feel like I’ve accomplished something.

Dead, Dead, Dead

20 Feb

or, “it’s dead, Jim.”

The old computer is finally dead. This time I was smart and saved everything that was important online. I know there are many out there that despise Google, but thank Google all my important stuff is safe. AMEN!

I have a new computer, an HP Laptop (G60-235DX Notebook PC) from Best Buy. It’s quite a nice little computer, but there’s a lot that I have to get used to. And I have to do a lot of messing with the fonts to get them right. Considering my own eyes are crappy, this is not a fun prospect. At least I have the color and contrast finally set right. This angling of the laptop screen is a toughie.

Oh, and Sam — I have not figured out how to use the built-in webcam. I doubt I’ll use it, though. I don’t even take photos of myself!! lol

Well, I have more things to chase down and update, so I’ll be around later.

I Have Been Here Before

I am seeking a question.
