Blogging From da Couch!

03 Dec

Yeah! Okay. Well, as the title says I am blogging from the couch. Very comfy. This means that I finally have the “free” router from Comcast setup and I can surf the internet from anywhere.

However, I have discovered that my laptop eats up the battery like it’s Yoohoo. Not good. So that means I do need to use my “plug-in” power cord. At least it’s long and our plugs are set up so that I’m not tripping over it.

So, it’s good.

Still Need Help: IE Error

19 Nov

As I mentioned a few days ago, I am continually getting an “Internet Explorer Error” message and I do not use IE.

Here’s what I’ve done to try and fix this:

1) Updated Vista
2) Optimized and then reset IE8.
3) When step 2 didn’t do anything I removed IE8 and Vista reverted to IE7.
4) All add-ons disabled and all Active-X deleted, as per instructions from the MS Support Center for Vista.
5) Ran Ad-Aware
6) Ran Vista Defender Scan

I researched the URL that is mentioned in the error message and it led to a site called My Systems Expert. There was no clue there as to how to fix or remove the error. When the error message comes up, I click NO.

This is the error message I am still getting:

IE_Error

If you can help me or can give me any advice on what I might do, please let me know.

Per Sam’s request, this is my current Startup:

sys_config

Thank you!

Yes, I am addicted to the lolcats and loldogs sites. More cuteness than any one person can handle, I say.

Now, onto something a little bit different.

Sometimes I’m just not with it. Low brain cell count, I think. Why? Because I finally figured out that one, very easy way I can make the fonts on sites readable is by zooming in on the whole site page.

All this ridiculous messing about with the browser fonts via the browser options (which, with all the browsers doesn’t quite work the way I want it, so I have to just deal) when all I really needed to do was Ctrl +/-!!!

For those interested:

Google Chrome – Ctrl +/- does the job, but must be done per page and after each re-load of a new page. It does not “remember” the setting if you go back to a page.

Opera 10 – Ctrl +/- or use the Magnifying Glass in the lower right hand corner of Opera. This will set all pages to the new zoom size and will remember that size even when you close the browser and come back later. Note: Opera has smaller zoom increments than the other browsers have.

IE8 – Ctrl +/- or use the Magnifying Glass in the lower right hand corner.

Firefox – Ctrl +/- , Add-on is not needed. There is a Page Zoom Button add-on that’s very slick looking, but it causes deliberate pop-ups (like fanfiction.net’s review pop-up) to take up to 30 seconds before they appear. This add-on is in beta, so maybe they’ll fix that. Firefox, like Opera, will remember your zoom setting.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it, keemoslobby!
