My Latest Efforts

03 Feb

This is part of what I’ve been working on this week:

Always Present Anglican Rosary

This one will be for the wrist or pocket. It is made with pale green Kiwi Sesame Agate, white jade, very pale green seed beads, gold seed beads, a green Swarovski Crystal, with a gold-plate cross.

Desert Clarity Anglican Rosary

This is made with Blue Jade, White Jade, small gold seed beads, a green Swarovski Crystal and a gold-plate cross. This is one of my favorites as it recalls the ancient desert colors of the Egyptian Pharaohs.

Silver Sunlight Anglican Rosary

This is larger than a wrist rosary and is best for the pocket or by the pillow when you sleep at night. The cross is Abalone Shell with a sterling silver swirl and fancy bail. The weeks beads are smooth, natural Mother of Pearl and the cruciform beads are round Picture Jasper. The Invitatory bead is of an oval Picture Jasper and two round Picture Jasper beads. The separator beads are a filigree, sterling silver open weave beads.

I’m finding that I really like flat beads for holding in the hand and I think I will make a larger rosary at some point, with flat beads. I found some gorgeous turquoise that I’d really love to work with that rounded, flat beads. They look like they’d be lovely to hold!

My Artwork & Photography at Zazzle

21 Jan

I neglected my Zazzle account for so long, I wasn’t even aware I had a few fans and made a few sales. Not even $2, but with all the artwork and photography I put up in the last two days, I hope to increase that.

My Zazzle store is simply named Jayne d’Arcy, so please stop on by. Share it on Facebook or Twitter, or on your blogs. PLEASE let people know about it. I thank you in advance.

There are bags, a few magnets, lots of mousepads, and lots of postcards. A friend of mine, who also has a great store you should visit (heavenly things) mentioned that she likes using postcards as bookmarks. Well! I’d never thought of that, but yes, they would make dandy bookmarks! Postcards also fit in small frames, so they are quite affordable art, too.

Beading Tomorrow

03 Jan

I know just what I’m going to be doing tomorrow — working on rosaries!! Whee!

Yes, I’m a twit, but that’s a Spiritual Twit, mind you.

I have the extra cobalt crystals I needed for the Gothika Blue Anglican and I am considering a slight bit of re-beading. With the extra beads, I like the possibility of enhancing my vision of the rosary.

I also have the bail (the thingy used to attach a pendant to a necklace) for The Quiet Professor Anglican Rosary. It’s really much prettier than I expected and is truly going to make the rosary.

I also looked up prayer ropes, prayer beads and Malas. I can’t make the prayer ropes, unfortunately. That takes too much dexterous handiwork and my hands have enough trouble keeping a bead from taking an unwanted voyage across the room. Prayer beads are very similar to Malas, just more generic. They’re used for everything from meditation focal points to prayer. Malas are definitely something I want to try beading. I bought some cord and beads for the first one I’ll make, which is… hmmm, 27 or 28 bead Mala.

And, Chotkis! No, that’s not something gathering dust on your shelf and made by Franklin Mint. I first heard about chotkis from Logospilgrim. Learning about them is what renewed my spark over rosaries and led me to the Anglican Rosaries. I found a place that had some very well drawn design templates (for beaders), and I will be making one of those, once I decide on the type of beads I’ll go with. I am leaning towards the Czech glass pearls, or the Swaroski pearls. Either would be beautiful. I wish I could do a knotted one, but I’d be handless after completing it.

If you get a chance, go check out my brother, Jack, and his new segment called Guitar Ramble. I bought him the webcam for Christmas and it works quite well. Plus, you get to see what Jack looks like.
