WIP – Two More Anglican Rosaries

31 Dec

I thought I would show you some photos of what I am working on in the next few days as far as my Anglican Rosaries go.

The first two photos are the Tiger Eye beads I’ll be using in my third rosary which I have named The Quiet Professor. Tiger Eye, for me, is a very spiritual, contemplative gemstone. They are mesmerizing, and hold such secrets that we can only know if we are worthy. When I put all the various tiger eye stones together, I could not help but picture a dear friend who embodies these very qualities.

The only thing I am missing is a bail for the cross. That should be here in a few days.

My current rosary is one that I am calling Gothika Blue. This rosary feels very creative to me. I think of the Queen of Gothic as I’m beading, Mary Shelley, and the broodingly mysterious Lord Byron. I can hear carriages on cobbled roads and horses hooves clattering down a gaslit street towards a bright theatre where all of London is turned out in their brightest finery.

I love the cross which is lead-free pewter inlaid with blue enamel. The beads are faceted Czech cobalt glass, and Czech Fire Polished beads. I ran out of beads, so I’m just waiting for those.

I am a nut for cobalt, and if you ask anyone who had to buy us wedding gifts when Richard and I got married, I simply kept telling everyone, “I want cobalt glass!” Not very helpful, but I wasn’t your conventional bride and our wedding was a “come-as-you-are” potluck. I did wind up with a set of cobalt blue dishware, a cobalt goblet, and two large cobalt salad bowls that have been our dogs dinner bowls since they were pups.

Below are other projects coming up:

This lovely cross will be complemented by the cloisonne and copper plated separator beads. The black beads are black onyx.

This malachite and sterling silver cross will have a bit to wait. I want to do this with malachite and sterling silver beads and those are both rather expensive. It will be fantastic when I can do it, though!

The Drawing For: Morningstar Anglican Rosary

19 Dec

I wrote the names down on pieces of paper and then had Panda help me pick a winner. After she thoroughly chewed and mangled a folded name I retrieved it from the floor (after replacing it with a cookie because she wouldn’t let go!) we have a winner.

The winner is:

Suze Robison!

Hopefully I can get this to you before Christmas, Suze.

Thanks to everyone for playing.

Morningstar Anglican Rosary Giveaway

12 Dec

Here it is, the Morningstar Anglican Rosary.

More photos can be found HERE.

I will be giving this rosary away to a random commenter. You just need to let me know whether or not you’d like to be part of the drawing. The only restriction is that you must live in the United States or Canada because I cannot mail anywhere else.

The basic Anglican Rosary consists of the cross, the Inviatory Bead, four Cruciform Beads, and four sections of seven beads each that are the Week Beads.

Some sites will thump me as this is not considered a “true” Anglican Rosary as there are extra beads next to the Week Beads. As you all should know by now, I am not exactly conventional, and neither is my artwork. For any that wish to follow Anglican prayers with these beads, they will suffice. Beautifully.

As I am learning, nearly any prayer can be used with the rosary. Goths (anyone, really) may also find this a beautiful piece to wear. So, please don’t feel that you cannot be in the drawing if it appeals to you. This is from my heart and I wish whomever wins it to enjoy it.

Remember, leave a comment. Drawing will be on the 19th.

Whoops! Forgot to describe the rosary. Here goes. The cross is laser cut, lead-free silver pewter. The invitatory bead is Czech glass pearl – cream white. The cruciform beads are also Czech glass pearl – cream white. For some reason, they came out goldish in the photos. The weeks are Czech cracked glass round, clear beads flanked by two moonstone beads. The separators are Czech glass clear seed beads.
