Fashion Show, or Don’t Ever Ask Again

29 Nov

Leave comments, people! Why is it, when you want to ask me to do something, do you email me instead? Philistines!

Rant, more or less over.

Because I was asked, and rather politely, I have taken photos of myself in some of my favorite dresses. I am smiling in all the photos (even those where my teeth don’t show). I have a malformed mouth that was corrected by 12+ years of orthodontia, so at least I can smile that much! You also get to see the white in my hair (it’s around my face), and how pale my skin is. Unfortunately, it tends to go red under a flash bulb, so, eh! What can I do? Here they are:

BlackDress_sm

This dress goes to my ankles. I wear the hat (which is old-fashioned cleric shaped) during Spring and Summer to shade my face. I burn. I am wearing my rosary of wooden, black-laquered beads from Poland. Only that one nitwit relative of mine thinks I’m being disrespectful. I’ve gotten some very nice compliments on it. My husband feels like he’s married to a nun when I wear this.

BrownDress_SplitSleeves_sm

My monk dress. I didn’t name it that, my mother did. I like the split sleeves. The necklace, of fan lace agate, was made by me. When I could see.

ManyColors_sm

My “coat of many colors” dress. I don’t wear it too often. I wear it when I’m in a colorful mood. The necklace I am wearing is my little Time-Turner.

PurpleDress_sm

This is one of my favorite winter dresses, my purple dress. This is the one I was wearing when a sweet little boy came up and asked me why my husband, Prof. Snape, was so mean to Harry.

Red_Blouse_sm

My red blouse with the really wide (or bell) sleeves. I also have a black blouse like this and might even get a dress that is full length with these sleeves. I do love the sleeves, but it’s annoying to thread them through the straps of my backpack.

So, there you have it. A fashion show. If you want to make fun of me, then get bent and leave. It was tough enough taking these photos.

The colorful dress came from Lotus in the Moonlight and the other dresses came from Holy Clothing.

By the way, I’m not really mean and nasty. I love all of you.

I May Be Selling My Art Supplies

29 Jun

I haven’t been able to draw a straight line for a very long time. My hands just tremble too much and it’s damned annoying.

On a side note, yes, I know shakey hands are not something you ignored for a long time. Trust me, I haven’t. So far the doc believes that the trembling is due, in some part, to arthritis pain. The shakes tend to get better after I’ve taken my meds.

So, back to the art stuff. I have tons of paper and sketchpads, more markers than you can eat, and drawing pens, as well as paint and some small canvases.

The other problem I’m having is my eyes are just getting plain old. If I want to see anything decently up close I either have to use my reading glasses, or take them off and squint.

I hate giving up any of my art stuff, but I haven’t put any of it to much use for almost two years now. Maybe I should try selling the whole lot on eBay.

Mebbe I jus’ won’ tink about it.

Sunday Stealing: Mud Meme

Here’s some nice, polite questions that don’t require a lot of thought. Grab your indulgent drink, and join me in Sunday Stealing.

1. What are your current obsessions?

Writing Harry Potter fan fiction. It’s a happy disease.

2. Which item from your wardrobe do you wear most often?

A long, patchwork dress from India. My favourite store is HolyClothing.com at eBay and Lotus in the Moonlight, also at eBay.

3. What’s for dinner?

Panda @ River Park Square. Orange Chicken, Sweet n Sour Pork with steamed rice for me, and the husband went with the steamed rice with Kung Pao Chicken, Green Beans n Beef and something with hot peppers.

4. Last thing you bought?

Disposable Brita Water Filtration Faucet – This is my second one. It works nicely.

11. Who or what makes you laugh until you’re weak?

Husband.
