The Gargoyle’s Last Watch

25 Feb

I’m lightheaded and I don’t like selected people right now. Strangers that feel they have free reign to ridicule and hurt others because they’re so far away and behind a computer monitor.

Thank God for people who are kind despite the inherent anonymity of the internet. When I’m finished with my sulk, I’ll go back to Facebook for them.

Until then, I’m going to work on a neglected fanfic, do some designs like the one above, and work on a new rosary using a flame agate cross. It’s gorgeous!

A Few Things

First of all, that IE Script Error message that was driving me to madness, has been taken care of. I had to uninstall Flock, then turn off or disable Java and Javascript in the browsers I keep to see how my blog looks in them. That’s Opera, Chrome, and IE7 which I cannot uninstall. I took a chance and left Java on in Firefox, and have had no errors at bootup since.

Thanks to everyone who provided advice or sympathy.

Next, in case you hadn’t seen it, yet, I am cross-posting my blog at Livejournal. Since there are a few people I wish to keep up with there, it was easiest to give in and open a blog there. If you prefer LJ and have a blog and wish to Friend me there, feel free.

I am attempting to be more social, these days, which is difficult since I have literally no life outside of this computer. I have no intention of jumping out into the Spokane social scene and finding friends, but I have seen how isolating myself on the computer has begun to hurt me.

It is easier, when the cold weather comes, for me to be sociable, than it is during warm weather. My Reverse Seasonal Disorder at work. (Shut up, Cindy, I can hear you laughing!)* I am hoping that if I become sociable enough during the winter, that with a bit of effort, I can keep up the momentum through Spring and hopefully on into Summer.

We shall see.

I will “talk” to people but it’s best to do so either via Facebook, Twitter, LiveJournal, or Email.

I tried Gtalk, but got fed up with it. I’m just not ready for that sort of interaction.

The Old Witch's Home in the Swamp

* I love Cindy, so I can tell her to “shut up”. ;-)

Some Explanation

19 Nov

Recently I Tweeted (heh, I know da language) that I was planning on doing something scary — ask a stranger for help.

I need to exercise. That’s not easy to do around here because most places are several bus rides, or a very long walk away. To get to the nearest pool by bus would require a total of almost three hours out of my day, with an hour to swim.

My husband suggested that I find an exercise buddy, someone who drives, that would go with me. It would shorten travel time, give me extra time to exercise, if I needed it, and give me the secure feeling I need since it’s hard going anywhere alone.

This means that I need to figure out which pool to go to, then advertise for my buddy, and strike up a friendship with a stranger.

Then there is the problem that there might not even be a pool I can go to, so….

*screams*
