What’s your favorite movie?

All right. You can’t be serious about restricting me to just ONE movie! There are too many out there.

Let’s do it this way:

Favorite movie for 2010: Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland (2D) – I love just about everything Tim Burton does. I admit, though, that for months I was freaked out by the huge movie poster that had wide-eyed Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter right where you bought tickets. After I saw the movie, I quite liked his character much better… he was moving. A lot.

All Time Favorite Movie: This changes, of course. But right now, the one that keeps coming to mind, is Lilies of the Field with Sidney Poitier.

4th of July is the holiday!

NOT July 3rd!!

I went to go get my new glasses today, and guess what? Yup. They’re closed on the 3rd for the holidays. Oh well. So it goes.

Hubby and I just went to a movie instead. We saw Public Enemies. It wasn’t a bad movie, but I don’t think it was good either. Johnny Depp was fine as was Christian Bale, but it felt like the movie was a bunch of cool scenes where things got blasted apart by bullets. If you were someone who had no idea who Dillinger, or J. Edgar Hoover was, you’d get lose in this movie. There really wasn’t any sort of story to it. The last thing that bugged me was the camera work. As though you were paparazzi following everything. It got annoying.

Pirates of the Caribbean – Dead Man’s Chest

I love this movie! If anything, it was better than the first. Of course, it is the middle of the story and that’s where the best stuff usually is.

I’m not going to listen to the critics that disliked this movie and have been busy tearing it apart. This is one of those movies in which you either like pirates or you don’t. I love pirates and for me this movie rates right up there with the best of pirate movies. It’s loud, the action is non-stop, the actors are superb, effects are astounding, and it has Bill Nighy, Orlando Bloom, Johnny Depp, Jack Davenport and Jonathan Pryce. And for the guys, Keira Knightly.

I would go see this movie at least a dozen more times before it leaves the theatre, but I think Richard would take the credit card from me.

I’ve been told we should have stayed for the end of the credits. I don’t know what happens, but if you go and you stay through to the end of the credits, tell me what happened.

So, if you’re a lover of pirates, get yer arse to the theatre, mates, and pay yer dubloons fer the ride of yer life!
