HP Fan Fiction: A Warm Touch of Magic

01 Dec

snape_snowA Warm Touch of Magic is a fan fiction story that I just stumbled across and spent the entire day reading. The story revolves around Severus Snape having been de-aged to the age of three years as he sabotaged the efforts of Death Eaters to break the wards that surrounded Harry’s aunt and uncle’s house. The Death Eaters are determined to kill the child Snape, but he runs and runs right into Harry. From there, the two become a family over 43 chapters.

There is a slash romance between Harry and Ron, but it is not graphic (thank goodness) and the growing relationship does not detract from the Harry/Severus arc, but adds to it nicely.

An excerpt below, between Ron and young Severus:

“Can you see it?” the impatient tug on his hand brought him back to his location, “Can you see it?”

They were stopped in front of a sprawling tree, and Ron immediately spotted the large deck, with its Pirate flag and little shelter.

“That is the most wicked tree house I’ve ever seen,” he said honestly and Severus laughed, letting go of his hand and running forward.

“Come on!” the boy cried and Ron ran after him, climbing up the ladder nimbly and letting Severus show him the telescope and hammock, all the time feeling the charms and wards that Harry had laid on the structure, the warm tingle of his friend’s Magic making itself known quietly. Ron could always recognise Harry’s spells, just as his friend knew his.

This is definitely a very lovely story that everyone would love.

Fashion Show, or Don’t Ever Ask Again

29 Nov

Leave comments, people! Why is it, when you want to ask me to do something, do you email me instead? Philistines!

Rant, more or less over.

Because I was asked, and rather politely, I have taken photos of myself in some of my favorite dresses. I am smiling in all the photos (even those where my teeth don’t show). I have a malformed mouth that was corrected by 12+ years of orthodontia, so at least I can smile that much! You also get to see the white in my hair (it’s around my face), and how pale my skin is. Unfortunately, it tends to go red under a flash bulb, so, eh! What can I do? Here they are:

BlackDress_sm

This dress goes to my ankles. I wear the hat (which is old-fashioned cleric shaped) during Spring and Summer to shade my face. I burn. I am wearing my rosary of wooden, black-laquered beads from Poland. Only that one nitwit relative of mine thinks I’m being disrespectful. I’ve gotten some very nice compliments on it. My husband feels like he’s married to a nun when I wear this.

BrownDress_SplitSleeves_sm

My monk dress. I didn’t name it that, my mother did. I like the split sleeves. The necklace, of fan lace agate, was made by me. When I could see.

ManyColors_sm

My “coat of many colors” dress. I don’t wear it too often. I wear it when I’m in a colorful mood. The necklace I am wearing is my little Time-Turner.

PurpleDress_sm

This is one of my favorite winter dresses, my purple dress. This is the one I was wearing when a sweet little boy came up and asked me why my husband, Prof. Snape, was so mean to Harry.

Red_Blouse_sm

My red blouse with the really wide (or bell) sleeves. I also have a black blouse like this and might even get a dress that is full length with these sleeves. I do love the sleeves, but it’s annoying to thread them through the straps of my backpack.

So, there you have it. A fashion show. If you want to make fun of me, then get bent and leave. It was tough enough taking these photos.

The colorful dress came from Lotus in the Moonlight and the other dresses came from Holy Clothing.

By the way, I’m not really mean and nasty. I love all of you.

A Few Things

24 Nov

First of all, that IE Script Error message that was driving me to madness, has been taken care of. I had to uninstall Flock, then turn off or disable Java and Javascript in the browsers I keep to see how my blog looks in them. That’s Opera, Chrome, and IE7 which I cannot uninstall. I took a chance and left Java on in Firefox, and have had no errors at bootup since.

Thanks to everyone who provided advice or sympathy.

Next, in case you hadn’t seen it, yet, I am cross-posting my blog at Livejournal. Since there are a few people I wish to keep up with there, it was easiest to give in and open a blog there. If you prefer LJ and have a blog and wish to Friend me there, feel free.

I am attempting to be more social, these days, which is difficult since I have literally no life outside of this computer. I have no intention of jumping out into the Spokane social scene and finding friends, but I have seen how isolating myself on the computer has begun to hurt me.

It is easier, when the cold weather comes, for me to be sociable, than it is during warm weather. My Reverse Seasonal Disorder at work. (Shut up, Cindy, I can hear you laughing!)* I am hoping that if I become sociable enough during the winter, that with a bit of effort, I can keep up the momentum through Spring and hopefully on into Summer.

We shall see.

I will “talk” to people but it’s best to do so either via Facebook, Twitter, LiveJournal, or Email.

I tried Gtalk, but got fed up with it. I’m just not ready for that sort of interaction.

* I love Cindy, so I can tell her to “shut up”. ;-)

I Have Been Here Before

I am seeking a question.
