Sunday Stealing: The “Leave It to Meme” Meme

If you’re feeling a bit like exposing yourself to the blog continuum, then feel free to join in on this meme.

1. Who was your FIRST date?

Leo Weiser – we didn’t go out again after I met his family: 12 brothers and sisters. And he wanted that large of a family.

2. Do you still talk to your FIRST love?

I do. He’s in the kitchen making mashed potatoes.

3. What was your FIRST alcoholic drink?

Strawberry Daquiri

4. What was your FIRST job?

At age 12 I was a maid at a locally owned motel that had eleven rooms. On weekends, I would clean the rooms AND stay overnight to watch the motel.

5. What was your FIRST car?

A green Pierce-Arrow. It is a small model my husband built for me after I told him that during the days that I thought I might become a driver, I hoped to have a green Pierce-Arrow.

6. Where did you go on your FIRST ride on an airplane?

I know my first plane ride was when I was around 5 years old. No idea where we went, though.

7. Who was your FIRST best friend & do you still talk?

Bettina. She was a next door neighbor when we were toddlers. Haven’t spoken to her since we moved when I was four.

8. Whose wedding did you attend the FIRST time?

My Aunt Sue and Uncle Salvatore’s wedding.

9. Tell us about your FIRST roommate.

“N”. This was in Monterey. She was psycho. When, after several of her childish tantrums I told her I was moving out, she’d cut all of my clothing up.

10. If you had one wish, what would it be (other than more wishes)?

Perfect health for myself, hubby, mom, Jack, and Jim.

11. What is something you would learn if you had the chance?

To draw people.

12. Did you marry the FIRST person you were in love with?

Yes.

13. What were the first lessons you ever took and why?

My mother was teaching us to read and paint before any of us got to school. At age 2 my little brother, Jack, could read the children’s encyclopedia to our grandfather. Jack liked Percherons.

14. What is the first thing you do when you get home?

Get into my comfy clothes.

I Tried

I tried to mess around and change my theme, but what I have is still the best.

The snow is still melting, but now we seem to be socked in by fog. Fog’s all right. Generally, though, it means that more snow might be on the way.

Last weekend we managed to get out to see a movie. We usually try to go see one once a week, but there have been several weeks in which there’s been NOTHING. I had no plans, at the time, to go and see the next Harry Potter movie (considering the fact I can’t even remember seeing the one before it!) but had it been playing, I would have gone ONLY because there was nothing else!

Hah! Was that a long sentence or what?!

Anyway, snow and lack of a good movie choice, kept us at home until last week we had enough sunshine and snow melt to go out. Even so, I still slipped on some bloody ice. That aside, we went to see Valkyrie.

I haven’t read many good reviews on this movie, and it seems there are plenty of critics who’d rather wax trashy about nitwit Tom Cruise then to talk about the movie.

I don’t like Tom Cruise, as a general person. I think he’s a nitwit. However, as an actor, he’s GOOD. I’ve pretty much liked most of his movies. He does a very good job in Valkyrie and it’s a very worthy movie.

As far as great acting went in the movie, Bill Nighy was FANTASTIC! Cruise usually is a scene stealer, but Nighy owned every scene he was in. Go Nighy!

Well, anyway, great movie, bittersweet, but worth the money, so go and check it out.

Today Was Yesterday

It’s Sunday, but I’m talking about Saturday. So, deal.

We went to see the movie The Dark Knight. I do think Heath Ledger‘s performance was extremely good, but I got tired of the movie. The twists were just a bit overdone.

I enjoyed seeing Gary Oldman as Commissioner Gordon, again. He’s so understated in this role, very quiet, but that worked so well in this storyline.

I’ve heard a lot of criticism against Christian Bale as Batman and honestly I think he pulls off the Dark Knight rather well. If he were doing the more light-hearted Batman that was performed by George Clooney or Michael Keaton, he wouldn’t be able to do that. My only annoyance was a silly one; his hair (as Bruce Wayne) looked plastic. Helmet hair.

It is a good movie, though, and it is worth an afternoon. I think that a beginning migraine probably coloured my view a bit.
