S.A.T.U.R.D.A.Y. Night! Er… 9

14 Nov

Here’s what it’s all about, The Man on the Moon, in the words of Crazy Sam:

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we’ve committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do “random questions,” so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don’t have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today’s meme!

Now for some anarchy and rebellion, the questions!

1. Do you think it was important to send a man to the moon?

Hell yeah! I may barely have been walking, but those days of moon madness were historic days. My parents were watching news every moment it was on. The day Neil Armstrong stepped on the moon, it was a full moon that night and we went to go and look out at it, knowing that there was now a human presence on the moon. I remember feeling that if I just stretched my hand up I could touch the moon. I may have a spotty memory in regards to some of my childhood, but that’s one to remember, forever.

2. What is your biggest fear?

Fear of pain and of others seeing me at my weakest.

3. If someone hung a sign around your neck today, what would it say?

Sleepwalking. Get out of my way! And why? I feel so sleepy that it would be convenient to just go to sleep while I do all my normal, daily stuff.

4. What is the longest line that you’ve stood in and was it worth it?

The line at the Better Business Bureau in Monterey to lodge a complaint against a local business owner who threw a clipboard at me. Since the business main office was actually based in India, and we couldn’t afford a lawyer, this was the best way to go. I wound up with a sizable settlement that allowed me to take a few weeks off work and learn about computers.

5. As the holidays approach, what song are looking forward to hearing again?

I like the Little Drummer Boy. Especially this version.

6. Whose music do you think is the most important of your generation’s?

What is my generation? I listened to swing, jazz, Hope, Crosby, Como, Bowie, Osborne, the Lamplighters, Kai and J.J., Queen, KISS… I was never a part of my generation.

7. Do you find it is [good] to be kind to strangers?

If you can be. Unfortunately, you have to be wary about who you help these days. I used to buy lunch from the Safeway deli for anyone standing outside of the store asking for change. It was better to give food than change as change usually went to alcohol.

8. When do usually lose your patience?

Any time I am bothered, or stressed out. That’s unfortunately quite a bit of the time.

Dark Tower 19. Is there a book that you’re dying to see as a movie?

Stephen King’s Dark Tower series.

J.J. Abrams’, director of the upcoming Star Trek reboot and producer on Lost, has the film rights to Stephen King’s Dark Tower series. I bring this up because Abrams just told IGN that he’s going to get to work on The Dark Tower with buddy Damon Lindelof after Lost ends.

This would be good, I think.

Thursday Thunk: A Buncha Things

21 Oct

Memes, Endorsements and Zombies. If it ain’t zombies, then it’s vampires. How come not chupcabras? Or mothmen? Or bigfoot?

Stuck in a rut, I’d say.

On to the questions!

1. If you were to start a meme (or a second or third), what would you call it and what day would you pick?

Like I haven’t done this once or twice, but if I were to go for a third time, how about Senior Moments (where you reveal your senior moments – no age requirement needed). Probably on Sunday.

2. When a celebrity endorses a product, do you really believe they like it/use it?

Nope.

Grey Poupon, maybe, but Bond and Japanese yogurt? Uh-uh.

3. Why don’t zombies ever just eat each other?

In a pinch, they might, but fresh is always better whether it’s honeydew or brains.

4. If you were an elephant, would you rather roam free or be in a zoo?

I don’t care for the implication that I’m. . . big boned.

5. The doorbell rings on October 31st, do you answer it?

I’m on the phone to the police because we’ve padlocked our front gate and if the bell is ringing that means some idiot prankster just scaled our fence.

6. If you see a piece of paper on the ground while out & about, do you pick it up? If so, do you look to see what it is?

If it’s money, yeah. If it’s just a random piece of paper, then let it fly, be free!

7. If Jon Gosselin and Octomom got married and then their own reality show, do you think she would try to get pregnant again for better ratings?

Maybe if they had a threesome with Kate? Nah. I don’t watch any of them since I don’t care to waste my time that way.

8. If Thursday Thunks was to be put on hold or quit completely, would you be sad?

I just started so I really haven’t been able to establish a solid relationship, yet. I’d just find another meme where I can answer, for the umpteenth time, what my favorite color is and would I drink kool-aid served by Jim Jones.

Schoolhouse Rock

08 Oct

We need more Schoolhouse Rock. Remember them? The little cartoon shorties that were simple education wrapped in really good music. Here’s one of my favorites:

schoolhouse_rockSeveral of the Schoolhouse Rock songs I remember better than any lesson I learned at school. Not everyone responds to “musical teaching” but I did. I looked forward to the lessons on Saturday morning, and always hoped to see a new one.

I just read the Wikipedia article and never realised that there were a total of 47 3-minute episodes made. I think I missed a few.

If you watched Schoolhouse Rock, what was your favorite? Feel free to include a link if you find a video.

I Have Been Here Before

I am seeking a question.
